GCCD alumni share their career paths in civil engineering and sustainable construction
26, June 2026
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the Civil Engineering and Sustainable Construction (GCCD) department at IUT1 welcomed two alumni who came to present their career paths and their companies to current students.
Two career paths, two perspectives on civil engineering professions
Organized regularly by the GCCD department, this event gave students the opportunity to interact with alumni who are now working in key sectors of civil engineering, architecture, and sustainable construction.
The presentations highlighted two complementary professional environments. The first presentation focused on wood construction, using the example of the Itinéraires Group, a company specializing in wood-frame construction, roof framing, and construction site supervision. In particular, the students learned about the role of a site supervisor, a position that serves as a link between the design office, the job site, clients, crews, and partners.
The second presentation focused on the activities of Ginger, an engineering firm specializing in structural assessments, inspections of engineering structures, studies of existing structures, investigations, laboratory testing, and project management. Through several concrete examples, the students gained a better understanding of the challenges associated with the maintenance, repair, and reinforcement of infrastructure.
Real-world examples to help you better understand the career opportunities offered by the BUT program
These conversations with former students offer valuable insight into the Career Opportunities for BUT. They help current students better envision their future careers in civil engineering, sustainable construction, structural engineering, and construction management.
