The GMP department maintains close relationships with large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and engineering firms.
These relationships take various forms:
• Internships
Each year, approximately 90 GMP students (second- and third-year BUT students) will complete a paid internship: 10 weeks during BUT year of BUT and 14 weeks during BUT year.
• Work-study program
Many students in their second year of BUT and the Professional Bachelor’s degree program choose to pursue a work-study program. More than 50 apprenticeship and professional training contracts are signed each year.
Every April, the GMP department hosts a student-employer networking event to recruit students interested in pursuing a work-study program.
• Apprenticeship Tax
Every company that pays its apprenticeship tax contributes to the training of its future employees.
• Training for businesses
The GMP department also offers certification training courses at the request of industry partners.
• Conferences and training sessions organized by companies
The department works with industry partners who are actively involved in our training programs:
For example, by leading lectures in lecture halls, or working with our undergraduate students, for whom about a quarter of the course hours are taught by industry professionals.
If you're interested, please don't hesitate to contact us.
• CQPM
Joint Qualification Certificate in the Metalworking Industry (in collaboration with UDIMEC).
• County Council
Six industry representatives serve on the board and attend meetings of the GMP Departmental Council.
• Technical services
Although this is not the department’s primary focus, we are able to provide support to companies that request it in areas such as 3D inspection and materials testing...
