What data do we process, and why?

Université Grenoble Alpes your personal data for the purposes of administrative and academic management of students and applicants.
This processing is mandatory and is based on the public interest mission of higher education and research, compliance with legal obligations, or the consent of the individuals concerned.
The university also processes data on an optional basis (such as surveys) as well as for statistical and management purposes.

Who processes your data? Who has access to your data?

Depending on the purpose, the following departments are authorized to process your personal data: the IUT1 Registrar’s Office, the IUT1 Communications Office, the IUT1 Corporate Relations and Work-Study Program Office, and the IUT1 Learning Center.

How long do you keep your data?

Personal data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and/or for the period required by law or regulations.
In this regard, the university complies, in particular, with the provisions of Directive "DAF DPACI/RES/2005/003 of February 22, 2005, on the sorting and preservation of records received and produced by departments and institutions involved in national education."

How is your data secured?

The university has implemented technical, legal, and organizational measures to ensure that your data is protected appropriately, taking into account the nature and scope of the processing.
These measures are in accordance with theUniversité Grenoble Alpes Information System Security Policy (ISSP),Université Grenoble Alpes complies with the federal government’s policy.
Transfers of your personal data outside the European Union
As part of student mobility programs, your personal data may be transferred outside the European Union. In such cases, the university ensures that the processing complies with applicable data protection laws, in particular by entering into standard contractual clauses and implementing additional safeguards. If these conditions are not met, your consent will be requested.

What are your rights, and how can you exercise them?

The university processes your personal data in the course of its duties, and in accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:
  • right to be informed,
  • right of access,
  • right to rectification.
And, depending on the processing activities and their legal basis:
  • right to restriction of processing,
  • right to data portability,
  • the right to object or request deletion if your data is used for purposes other than those required by law, or if it is not subject to a statutory retention period,
  • the right to withdraw your consent,
  • and you can set post-deletion policies for your data.
