The Department of Civil Engineering and Sustainable Construction (GCCD) at IUT1 has just signed a sponsorship agreement with three divisions of Spie batignolles (Public Works, Regional Construction, and Civil Engineering), a major player in the construction industry in France. This three-year partnership marks a new milestone in the close ties that IUT1 is forging with the professional world.

A commitment and mutual benefits

This partnership is part of a shared commitment to strengthening the links between higher education and the business world. Through a multi-year action plan, the three branches of Spie Batignolles came together to introduce students at the GCCD Department the diversity of its business areas, areas of expertise, and challenges. The goal is also to facilitate interactions with the company’s teams, particularly through participation in events organized at IUT1, and to promote opportunities for internships, work-study programs, and employment.
For its part, the GCCD department provides Spie batignolles with exclusive access to a pool of young talent trained in the current challenges of the construction industry. By increasing engagement with students—through meetings, presentations, and the targeted distribution of internship and job offers—the company can raise awareness of its various roles, inspire career interest, and identify future employees at an early stage. This represents a strategic advantage in recruitment and a concrete opportunity for the department’s 275 students to envision their future in the professional world.

IUT1: Programs Tailored to Business Needs

With 1,700 students and 600 apprentices and interns across eight academic departments, IUT1 Grenoble offers three-year degree programs (BUT) designed in close alignment with real-world industry needs. This new partnership with Spie batignolles once again illustrates IUT1’s proactive approach: promoting the professional integration of young graduates by incorporating the current and future needs of businesses into the content and projects of its training programs.

Spie batignolles: Building sustainably and close to home

Spie batignolles is an independent group with 9,000 employees that operates in a wide range of sectors (construction, civil engineering, public works, landscaping, energy, real estate, etc.) and is characterized by a strong culture of listening, dialogue, and local engagement. Its partnership with the GCCD department at IUT1 is part of a commitment to social responsibility, as well as a desire to actively contribute to the training of future professionals in the sector.
This partnership provides an opportunity to mutually enrich practices, knowledge, and experiences, bringing higher education even closer to the real-world challenges of the professional world.
