Mock Interviews in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing (GEII): A Successful 2024 Edition!

November 28, 2024
As they do every year, the students in the BUT2 GEII program participated in mock job interviews organized in collaboration with partner companies.

Objectives and Procedure

These simulations are designed to prepare students for their internship searches, a crucial step in earning their degree. Each interview, which lasts a total of 40 minutes, consists of:
  • A 25-minute one-on-one interview during which students present their application and discuss it with the recruiter,
  • A 15-minute debriefing session to receive personalized advice and constructive feedback.
Participating companies use a standardized evaluation form to assess candidates. These simulations not only provide a realistic experience of the recruitment process but also serve as part of a mentoring program, offering practical advice and encouragement to help students improve.

A two-pronged approach: internships and work-study programs

The program focuses on finding 8- to 12-week internships scheduled between April and June to fulfill the requirements for the second year of BUT. However, it also serves as a first step for students considering a work-study program in their third year. In fact, several students were able to establish valuable connections with recruiters, paving the way for future collaborations.

A vital educational initiative

This activity is part of the "Business and Communication" course in the Expression and Communication program. It helps students develop their self-presentation skills, better understand what recruiters are looking for, and build confidence for their future career pursuits.
The GEII Department would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to our partner companies for their support and dedication to our students. See you next year for another exciting edition!
