Girls' Day: The Department of Physical Measurements and ENSE3 Join Forces to Inspire Interest in Science

Tour Orientation and Integration
November 20, 2025
On Thursday, November 20, IUT1 Grenoble, in partnership with ENSE3, organized “Girls’ Day,” an event designed to introduce young women to science and technical careers.
Nearly 120 middle school girls were welcomed This year, the participants came from five middle schools, including two in priority education zones and three in rural areas. The day alternated between hands-on workshops (two hours of practical activities) and roundtable discussions led by female scientists: students, technicians, engineers, and researchers.

Through hands-on activities in a lab-like setting, informal discussions, and moments of discovery, the participants were able to envision their future, ask questions, and, above all, meet professionals they could relate to.

Rising participation, a sign of growing interest

The event is gaining significant momentum:

  • 2023: 70 middle school girls
  • 2024: 100 middle school girls
  • 2025: 120 middle school girls
This trend underscores the importance of these initiatives in combating self-censorship, identifying career interests, and promoting greater gender diversity in science and technology fields.
IUT1 is thus continuing its commitment to gender diversity in the sciences by encouraging young girls to explore these fields as early as middle school.
