November 12, 2024November 25, 2024
To mark European Disability Employment Week (EDEW), the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering (GMP) at IUT1 Grenoble is launching an immersive program designed to raise awareness among its students about the challenges associated with visible and invisible disabilities. Over the course of two weeks, interactive workshops invite participants to explore the realities of disability, with the goal of promoting inclusion in their future professional lives.
This project is part of the students’ Personal and Professional Development Program (PPP), a key educational initiative at IUT1 designed to equip students with the interpersonal and soft skills essential in the workplace. The initiative offers a variety of immersive experiences aimed at fostering a better understanding of the needs of people with disabilities, with a focus on respect and tolerance in the workplace.

GMP workshops to raise awareness about disabilities

A hands-on, immersive program

Through a variety of workshops, students will explore and experience situations involving disabilities to gain a better understanding of the realities they present:
  • Practical simulations: wheelchair navigation exercises and tasks requiring mental effort to experience real-world obstacles.
  • Quizzes and discussions: to test and expand their knowledge of disabilities and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Discussions and debates: to break down taboos and explore possible adjustments in the workplace.

A commitment to an inclusive society

The GMP Department is committed to training professionals who are sensitive to issues of inclusion. This program aims to:
  • Raise awareness of the challenges of inclusion in the workplace;
  • Encourage dialogue about the rights and responsibilities associated with adaptation;
  • Provide information on available resources (contact persons, organizations) to support the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Key partners

This event will take place at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, with the participation of: APF France Handicap, AFIPH, and SAH UGA.
