BUT3 MT2E students on an energy audit mission in the Pacific

Educational innovation
December 13, 2024
Students in the Energy Optimization for Buildings and Industry (OPTIM) program recently visited the Pacifique – National Choreographic Development Center as part of a hands-on educational project: conducting an energy audit.

A real-world immersion project

Accompanied by Thomas Clauvel, an engineer from the Ellypsio Engineering Firm, and welcomed by the team at the Pacific, the students gained an understanding of the architectural features and unique challenges of this cultural building.
This immersion experience allowed them to put into practice the skills they had acquired through courses such as:
  • Energy Audit Methodology: Learning to Analyze and Assess Energy Consumption
  • Energy and environmental retrofitting of buildings: identifying sustainable and appropriate solutions.
  • SAÉ – Optimizing the energy and environmental performance of buildings: implementing concrete projects and making recommendations.

MT2E Visits Pacifique for an Energy Audit

A project supporting the energy transition...

Students will work on a thermal simulation of the building before proposing solutions to optimize its energy performance and reduce its carbon footprint. This project is fully aligned with the sustainable development and energy transition goals championed by the Department of Energy Transition and Efficiency (MT2E) and IUT1 as a whole.

... to train the experts of tomorrow

Initiatives like this—of which there are many at IUT1—enable students to gain valuable professional experience while actively engaging with issues that are crucial for the future. Through these learning opportunities and their commitment, they become key players in energy and environmental optimization.
