A Look Back at the LAN Party Hosted by the Networks and Telecommunications Department
June 5, 2025Saint-Martin-d'Hères - University Campus
On the night of Friday, May 23, to Saturday, May 24, 2025, the Networks and Telecommunications (RT) department at IUT1 was buzzing with excitement during an exceptional LAN party organized by the Student Council (BDE).
Students and teachers gathered at 6 p.m. for an all-night gaming marathon featuring local-network video games, in a friendly and tech-savvy atmosphere. With a capacity of 80 participants based on pre-registration, the event was fully booked.
Beyond the fun of gaming, this LAN party gave students the opportunity to put their professional skills into practice: configuring and administering the local network, managing access, ensuring quality of service under heavy load, and providing live technical support… It was a true real-world exercise, supervised by three faculty members from the department.
Each participant brought their own computer (monitors were provided upon request) and followed specific IT guidelines to ensure the secure use of public IP addresses.
To complement this evening of challenges and friendly competitions, a sale of pancakes and non-alcoholic beverages was held in the building’s lobby, adding a tasty touch to the event.
A big round of applause to all the participants for their energy and dedication throughout this unforgettable night!
A LAN party is an event where participants gather to play multiplayer video games together over a local area network (LAN) rather than online.
