A language center offering innovative learning environments

Students at IUT1 have access to state-of-the-art language center facilities and small, level-based classes that focus on general and technical language skills as well as communication techniques in a foreign language.
The classes are practice-oriented and emphasize interaction through real dialogue with the teacher, with a focus on speaking.

The language center offers required English courses and elective courses in Spanish, German, and Italian, taught in:

4 multimedia labs, each with 18 workstations

• connected to the Internet
• equipped with virtual language lab software
• equipped with a wide range of language-learning software

1 18-seat tutorial room equipped with:

• a computer workstation connected to the internet
• an audio CD player
• a video projector

1 seminar room with 18 seats, equipped with:

• an interactive whiteboard
• a computer workstation connected to the internet
• a video projector
• an audio CD player
• special modular furniture designed for group work

The Language Center is authorized to administer the TOEIC Listening & Reading and TOEFL-ITP certification exams to its students.
Optional second-language modules are offered in the second and third semesters to help students deepen their knowledge of German, Spanish, or Italian.
High-level student-athletes or students with special needs can take customized online English courses.
